Hello! My name is Michelle Matzke, and as a therapist it is my passion to help individuals and families navigate life's challenges and achieve their mental health and well-being goals. I strive to provide compassionate care in a safe and non-judgmental environment for every individual who walks through the door.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative experience built on trust and respect. Every individual is unique with their own strengths and experiences. My person-centered and strength-based approach ensures that therapy is tailored to meet your specific needs. With experience in many different therapeutic modalities such as play, art, music, mindfulness and more, we can discover the right therapy treatment style for you.

I also hold a certification in grief and loss counseling, which enables me to support individuals and their families through the complex emotions that arise when dealing with loss. I understand that grief can manifest differently for everyone, whether it be the loss of a loved one, a pet, or even a significant life change. I would be honored to guide you through your unique grief journey with compassion and care.

In addition, I have over 5+ years of experience providing trauma-informed therapy with children, adolescents, and their families in both community and school-based settings. I welcome and support clients in the LGBTQ+ community. I know life can be challenging, but you don’t have to face it alone. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you on your journey!

I am a Peoria native and love all the unique things this city has to offer. When I’m not working, I enjoy gardening, playing games, reading a thrilling book, or working on some sort of art project. I find nature to be very healing and try to share my green thumb wherever I go.

Empathy doesn’t require that we have the exact same experiences as the person sharing their story with us...Empathy is connecting with the emotion that someone is experiencing, not the event or the circumstance.
