Hello! Life is difficult and sometimes we forget that we don't have to do it alone.  My name is Erica and I look forward to having the chance to understand who you are.

I am licensed as a professional clinical counselor through the state of Illinois and earned an M.Ed. in counseling in 2009 from the University of Akron in Ohio. I have provided therapy out in the community, in schools, as well as in a typical counseling office. I have experience with clients of all ages who struggle with depression, anxiety, anger, family conflict, coping with grief and loss, the challenges of parenting, social behavior, and trauma.

My approach to counseling is person centered. I believe you are the first and best expert on yourself. I focus on truly hearing what you believe about your own needs and concerns. Counseling does not work without trust, and we can build this together. I find that as a trusting therapeutic relationship grows, an individual begins to uncover their own answers, builds confidence in his or her ability to facilitate change, and begins to feel better equipped to thrive even during difficult times.  I use a variety of techniques and strategies as needs emerge, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, homework assignments, rehearsal, and challenge and validation.

My goal is to provide acceptance, understanding and clarity during challenging times.  You have shown courage and hope by reaching out and recognizing that life is hard!  I look forward to being part of your journey.

When I am not at work, there is nothing I like to do more than spend time with my family. I moved to the Peoria area from Ohio, along with my husband and three kids, and it’s been an adventure getting to know central Illinois!  I love playing soccer and tennis and following my kids as they grow into young adults.
