I am a lifelong student and observer of the human condition. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I served as a classroom teacher, I served as an elected official in county government as a policy maker, and I hunted insurance fraudsters in cyberspace, the rural Midwest, and the concrete canyons of international cities (think Boba Fett in a nondescript Japanese car). In short, my diverse experiences alongside my clinical training provides me a framework for helping to understand how to best treat whatever condition that you are requesting help with from me.
I am a psychotherapist who leans a lot on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Experiential, psychodynamic, and solution focused approaches. You are the expert in your life. I am just a guide who will frequently remind you to make a data driven decision. If you are looking for a pure cheerleader or someone who just holds your hand, I’m not the right therapist for you. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves and tackle the anxiety, the trauma, the depression, the grief, or in short, the past, I’m here to help. I’m constantly looking at ways to improve my practice, so I am dedicated to pursuing continuing education units and reading voluminous works on how to be a better psychotherapist. You are the expert on your life; I am just a facilitator for change.
Are you neurodivergent? Perhaps you have just discovered that you are exceptional or twice exceptional. Maybe now you know why American History and English were your favorite subjects, and mathematics was a hellscape! I can assist you in this self-discovery of how to learn with a neurotype that is atypical. This is a special passion of mine!

When I am not working, I am an avid reader and author. I particularly enjoy the subjects of spy fiction/detective fiction, military and medical history. I also enjoy exploring museums, art galleries, and restaurants with my wife. It will be my highest honor and privilege to help you write the next chapter of your life.
