As a therapist, I am guided by the belief that our relationships are often were we experience harm, and shape the lens through which we filter future experiences.  We all have complex stories to tell, and can benefit from a safe place to explore those stories. I understand that you are the expert on you, and my role is to listen to your stories and explore where you have come from and where you are going.

What is Play Therapy?

Play is the language of children and play therapy is a treatment approach that allows children to “play out” their experiences, emotions, and natural tendencies.  Toys in my play therapy room are carefully selected to facilitate creative and emotional expression.  I work to provide an environment where a child feels safe to play out his or her concerns, assess your child’s play, and work with you, the parent, to help resolve problems.

I welcome and support clients of all sexual orientations, including LGBTQ.

I have worked with children and adolescents for over fifteen years in multiple capacities, from volunteer work with youth organizations to counseling positions at community mental health agencies.  Since 2009, my clinical work has included counseling children and families impacted by adoption and trauma, behavioral work with children on the Autism Spectrum, and short term crisis intervention with youth.

I recently moved back to the midwest, and live in Peoria with my husband, two children, and two rescue mutts.
