About Summit Family Therapy

We believe that you have the natural ability to solve many of life's problems and that you are doing the best you can.  Sometimes unexpected events, hurts, habits, or even attempted solutions keep us "stuck" in an unwanted pattern.  We would like to help you unlock these resources, restore your relationships, and find the healing you deserve.

Our Story

How did this all start?  Yes, Courtney and Ryan Stivers are a married couple.  They dreamed for years of starting their own counseling practice.  Summit Family Therapy, LLC, was originally founded in Arkansas under the name Stivers Counseling and Consulting in 2012.  Our company relocated to central Illinois in 2016.  You can learn more about their professional credentials below in our individual staff profiles.

What we love most about counseling is having the honor of walking with clients through their own journey.  We understand what a giant step it can be to ask for help, as it takes a great deal of bravery and vulnerability.  By the end of your first session, it is our goal that you feel comfort, relief, and a genuine hope that change is possible.

We are committed to building a quality team of professionals who are dedicated to providing the best family centered counseling services possible.  Please, take a moment to review our staff profiles and see which of our counselors might be the best fit for your situation.  It is our hope that clients of all backgrounds, ethnicities, faith systems, and sexual orientations feel welcome.

Brené Brown writes in her book, The Gifts of Imperfection, "Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy – the experiences that makes us the most vulnerable, only when were brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light."
